Know your 2024 board

You already know and love them. They’re fun and quirky and love everything GGRC. Without further delay, here’s your 2024 Board.

President – Chamila

In 2017, Chamila started running regularly when she signed up for her first half marathon. In 2021, she discovered GGRC and has never looked back.

In the last 3ish years with the club, Chamila has made lifelong friends, learned to love hill training, ran her first marathon, and has gotten way too comfortable running races in absurd costumes.

As 2024 President, she is excited to welcome new members to the club and support them in finding community and reaching their running goals! Come say hi 🙂

Treasurer – James

James is Seattle-born and bred and moved to SF in 2021 following stints in DC and LA. He joined GGRC on its first Sunday Run post-COVID as a way to get off the couch and meet new folks as a recent arrival to the Bay Area. His favorite GGRC event is the hangout and beers in the Ocean Beach dunes following Bay to Breakers. His 2024 goals are to stay off the couch and maybe sneak in a half marathon, or possibly a full, at some point this year. His solo runs always start on a steep downhill section from Telegraph Hill, and he totally runs the uphill portion on returning and does not ever walk. (He also lies). When he’s not running and/or drinking with GGRC, you can find him hiking Bay Area trails with his wife, Kate. He is also paleobotanist Elli Sattler.

Coach – Lena

Lena was born and raised in San Francisco and grew up running around Golden Gate Park. She ran track in high school as a sprinter, and then switched to long distance in college and discovered the joy of running together with friends! When not out on a run or at work as a software dev, she enjoys hiking, baking, and puzzling (personal record: 2,000 pieces).  As 2024 GGRC coach, Lena hopes to help other club members reach their running goals and bond with their teammates!

Race Coordinator – Michael

Michael picked up running consistently about two years ago after moving to SF, but has been trying to make up for lost time. He quickly started regularly running in GGRC club races, half marathons and full marathons. A bucket list activity he has is to run a half marathon under the midnight sun in Norway in the next couple years. In the meantime, he’ll be organizing and running in the GGRC club races for 2024 and hopes to see you there.

Social Chair – Sarah

Sarah is originally from Wisconsin and grew up running cross country and track races in the cold! Since moving to San Francisco four years ago, Sarah has leaned on running as an excuse to soak up the beautiful bay area weather and to explore everything this unique city has to offer. Sarah loves the diversity and friendliness of GGRC and is excited to plan fun social events this year for the community to bond! Let Sarah know if you have any bars or restaurants on your SF bucket list or have any book recommendations! (:

Merchandise Coordinator – Drew

Drew started running back in 2013 in college when his first job was working at a pizza shop full of triathletes and ultra runners. To make friends, he decided to give running a try. Eleven years later, he couldn’t be happier with that decision! Leaving the trails and mountains of Reno, NV behind, Drew has been running all over SF and Marin for over 2 years now. When not running, he is most likely walking his dog, getting coffee, or eating pizza. But most likely eating pizza.

Drew is excited to serve as the 2024 Merchandise Coordinator and can’t wait to help everyone get some awesome gear to represent the club!

Communications Chair – Taylor

Taylor is a Bay Area native. Running was a natural extension of his love for the outdoors and found it one of the best ways to explore The City. Taylor’s favorite part of GGRC is the friendly community and the variety of fun events throughout the year. His favorite events include Bay to Breakers, Christmas Relays, Banquet, and all of the “adventure runs” through the Marin Headlands. When he’s not at Track, Sunday Run, or a GGRC Happy Hour… or working, he’s likely at the beach or hiking trails.
